Helping children comfortably navigate the sensory world.
Some autistic children experience the sensory world differently. Sounds, lights, textures, movement, or touch can feel overwhelming, or conversely, a child may seek intense sensory input to feel grounded. We help children develop strategies and skills that allow them to participate more comfortably in everyday activities.
Key Focus Areas:
- Sensory Assessment: Identifying the child’s unique sensory profile—whether sensory sensitive, sensory seeking, or sensory avoidant.
- Sensory Diet & Equipment: Providing customized sensory activities (swinging, deep pressure, tactile exploration, proprioceptive input) that promote calm alertness.
- Environmental Adaptation: Recommending adjustments to lighting, noise levels, and seating to optimize participation and attention in classroom and home environments.
- Self-Regulation Tools: Teaching the child to recognize bodily states and use sensory tools to regulate themselves during overwhelming situations.
