Communication is much more than speaking.
At Orchid Care Home and Rehabilitation Center, our Speech & Language Therapy program supports children with receptive and expressive language, functional communication, social communication, and alternative ways of communicating when appropriate.
Core Focus Areas:
- Functional Communication: Supporting the child to express wants, needs, feelings, and choices in daily life.
- Receptive & Expressive Language: Building comprehension of spoken language, following instructions, and expanding vocabulary and sentence formation.
- Social Communication (Pragmatics): Developing conversational turn-taking, joint attention, eye contact, and understanding social cues during peer interactions.
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): Introducing visual supports, picture exchange systems, and communication devices for non-verbal or minimally verbal children.
- Articulation and Speech Clarity: Helping children produce speech sounds clearly to be understood by peers and family.
Individualized Therapeutic Partnership
Every child communicates differently. Our therapists work closely with educators and parents to ensure communication goals are practiced not just in therapy, but across classroom activities, snack time, play, and family routines at home.
